Tanjung Bungah Resort

Snake Temple was built in honor of Chor Soo Kong, a Buddhist monk. He is known to have moved to Penang, and he has expertise in healing and treatment of various diseases. Many Buddhists who come from other Asian countries such as Singapore, Thailand and others.

This temple was built in 1850. Inside there is a statue of Chor Soo Kong brought to Penang by a monk from China. According the name, this temple is also known as a home for snakes. You can see some snakes roam in this temple. This temple is also a place to pray, especially for Buddhists.

Fort Conwallis


Fort Cornwallis Penang is one of the tourist attractions that always visited by tourists. Fort Conwallis name comes from Charles Conwallis who is the Governor-General in Bengal India. This fort located at next Victoria Memorial Clock in Georgetown, the castle offers a number of attractions such as the open hall amphitheater, historical gallery, a souvenir center, travel information services and even some cafes.

Fort Conwallis is one of the oldest sites in Penang and was built in 1786. At that time, Captain Francis Light controlled Penang island from Sultan of Kedah. Captain Light built the fort in order to maintain his power in this region.

The fort structure was updated from its original form using bricks in 1804 by Colonel RT Farquhar during his tenure as Governor of Penang.

Jerejak Island


This island is home for  exotic flora and fauna in Penang. Named Jerejak Island taken from the name of a fishermen who formerly lived in this island. Francis Light, founder of Penang, is believed to had visited this island before he stay and built Penang.

England has built a number of hospitals in the island in the 1930's. There is a grave of a Russian who was killed in World War II when German submarines attacked the Russian navy. Jerejak Island also has a rehabilitation center for prisoners were used from 1969 to 1993. They had rioted and destroyed several buildings here.

In this island there is also a number of wildlife and some endangered species were protected, such as falcon eagles, long-tailed monkey, python snakes, lizards and others.

 

Penang Hill

There are only about 1,000 local residents at this place, and is a tourist area that is equipped with complete facilities such as tea stalls, cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, mosques, Hindu temples and also accommodation.

From the bridge, you will see the green landscape with a variety of animals. If you want to visit Penang Hill, you better come early to avoid long queues at the entrance. You can also see beautiful waterfalls, and of course you are also allowed to swim.

 

Teluk Bahang


This area is better known as a fishing village. There is a butterfly farm and forest recreation. There are also some batik factories and orchids farm. Teluk Bahang is a very beautiful vacation place because it is very natural and not too crowded.

In this place you can enjoy the beach, as well as activities from local residents. They generally work as fishermen. Sometimes you can also follow them to fishing, or you can just chill out to see the sunset.

 

Kek Lok Si Temple


This temple is one of the largest and most famous in Malaysia and even in Southeast Asia. This temple was built in 1893. In 1930 the pagoda at the Kek Lok Si Temple, also known as the Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas, built featuring Thailand and Burma architectural design that meant to indicate acceptance of Mahayana and Theravada.

The temple is located on a hill so it has a pretty beautiful surrounding landscape. In this temple there is also a bronze statue of Goddess Kuan Yin was built in 2002. At every level at pagoda, you will find a variety images of Buddha.

Dharmikarama Burmese Temple


This temple has become a favorite location of the monks to meditate. The prominent features is the pagoda, a giant statue of the Buddha and the Main Shrine Hall. This temple is one of the historic Buddhist temple in Penang and Malaysia, and has been listed as one of the fifteen State Heritage Site, and is promoted as one of the interesting sights on Penang.

This temple was built in 1803, formerly called Nandy Moloh Burmese Temple. This temple is one of the destinations that you should visit in Penang. This temple looks very beautiful and majestic, with a variety of Buddha ornaments.
